Ministry reports 15 new Covid-19 clusters


Out of the 15 new Covid-19 clusters reported today, eight are linked to workplaces, four to religious activities, two to education and one a high-risk group. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Irwan Majid, May 15, 2021.

THE Health Ministry has reported 15 new Covid-19 clusters, with eight linked to workplaces, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The eight workplace clusters are:

1. Lebuh Sultan, in Klang, Selangor – 23 cases

2. Sg Pinang Tujuh in Klang, Selangor – 20 cases

3. Jalan Kilang Midah in Cheras and Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat, Selangor – 17 cases

4. Stonor construction site in Kuala Lumpur – 29 cases

5. Perusahan Maju Lapan in Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang ­­– 67 cases

6. Jalan Tey Mia Jen in Muar, Johor – 29 cases

7. Jalan Perindustrian Tiga in Muar, Johor – 30 cases

8. Jalan Bertingkat in Skudai and Johor Baru, Johor – 18 cases

In addition to the workplace clusters, there were four clusters linked to religious activities on the list today.

These were Kemunting in Kuantan, Pahang (16 cases), Persiaran Lavender in Seremban and Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan (39), Jalan Telipot in Kota Baru and Bachok, Kelantan (30) and Jalan Keramat Wangsa in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (31).

Apart from that, health authorities also reported two education clusters, namely Jalan Alsagoff in Pontian, Johor with six cases and Impian Indah in Gombak and Petaling, Selangor which saw 26 cases.

Completing the list of clusters today was the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah cluster of 12 infections in Penang, which involved a high-risk group.

Noor Hisham also said that there are currently 466 active clusters of infection in the country. – May 15, 2021.
