Vote Umno back to end political, economic crises, says Najib

THE country’s political crisis can be resolved with the return of Umno and Barisan Nasional to power, said former prime minister Najib Razak.

Najib said the democracy of Malaysia needed a party that would ensure a stable government.

“BN and Umno are the guardians. I don’t like the term dominant because it sounds like being a bully.

“Looking at the political scenario now, no party can be that guardian unless Umno and BN come back with renewed strength.

“The people are aware what is the cause… we do not have political stability because there is no reliability in our politics,” he said in an interview with Umno Online last night in conjunction with the party’s 75th anniversary tomorrow.

Najib said the restoration of Umno to power would mean a stable government with leaders who would focus on their duties of administration, which in turn wouldresolve Malaysia’s economic problems.

“In a parliamentary democracy, we need one party to be the parent; in a political system if there is no core party, the government will be unstable.

“This is what we are seeing – attempts to buy MPs, these are all acts of instability when there is no core party.”

Najib said he hoped the people would return the mandate to Umno and BN when they choose the next government.

“Sooner or later, the solution is to hold a general election. When the time comes, hopefully the people will give us a convincing mandate. If the vote is split, there is no core party, there is no solution.

“The people must be of one accord, not only in the general election but to ensure a stable government. If the vote is split the story will continue.”

The Pekan MP is confident that Umno and BN will be able to get the country back on track based on their previous administrative record.

“We must choose politicians who have abilities, one of the weaknesses of this government as well as Pakatan, is that they do not have the ability.

“Because in any case, in the end, the minister must have the ability, the prime minister alone cannot govern the country, the Cabinet must be credible before the government can succeed,” he added.

Umno is heading for the polls on its own after discounting cooperation with Bersatu, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim or DAP. – May 9, 2021.

  • When the country was flush with funds you brought us to near bankruptcy. No citizen in his/her right mind will vote for you or your ilk ever again. Your only support will be from those who directly/indirectly benefited from your corrupt government. You're a nightmare. Just go away.
