436 active clusters with 13 detected today

THE health ministry detected 13 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, taking the number of active clusters in the country to 436, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health Ministry director-general said the cumulative number of clusters since the pandemic started was 1,788 but 1,352 have ended.

Noor Hisham said workplaces and community transmissions reported five clusters each, while two were religious clusters and one came from the education sector.

Noor Hisham said the Kawasan Industry Dua workplace cluster in Muar, Johor reported the highest number of cases among the clusters detected today with 100 people testing positive.

Other workplace clusters are the Jalan Tun Hussien Onn construction site (51 cases) and Kopitiam Kg Selamat (19 cases) in Penang, while Jalan Satu (15 cases) and Lorong Tiung (25 cases) were in Selangor.

The community clusters are Jalan Stadium Negeri (17 cases), Tebedu Mawang (21 cases) both in Sarawak, Sri Tualang in Kelantan (27 cases), Jalan L Sungai Behrang in Perak (17 cases) and Lak Lok spreading over Terengganu and Kelantan (26 cases).

The two religious clusters are Jalan Haji Mahmud in Johor with 14 cases and Tanah Merah in Negeri Sembilan with 41 positive cases.

The education cluster was detected in a government school in Penang, Desa Murni, where 29 people tested positive. – May 9, 2021.
