Second straight day of Covid-19 cases exceeding 4,000 with 25 deaths

MALAYSIA recorded new Covid-19 cases exceeding 4,000 for the second straight day, at 4,519, as of noon today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

The director-general of health said Selangor contributed the most cases, at 1,722, followed by Kuala Lumpur (557) and Sarawak (479). 

He said 2,719 patients were discharged today, taking the total number of recoveries to 398,723.

This once again increased the number of active cases in the country to 36,564.

Of the active cases, Noor Hisham said 393 were admitted to intensive care units and 210 required breathing assistance. 

He also said 25 fatalities were reported today, taking the death toll to 1,657. 

The last time that many patients died from tCovid-19 was on Feb 18.

Of the fatalities today, five each were reported in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak, and four each, in Selangor and Johor.

 

Two deaths each were reported in Kelantan and Kedah while one death each was recorded in Sabah, Perak and Penang. 

Four of the 25 victims were brought in dead to hospital. – May 8, 2021.
