King, queen, PM express condolences to Indonesian president, people

THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin have expressed their condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian people over the KRI Nanggala 402 submarine tragedy.

The royal couple expressed deep grief over the tragedy and hoped that the families of the crew members would be patient and resolute in facing this test and moment of grief. 

“The passing of the submarine crew members in this holy month of Ramadan is a great loss for Indonesia and hopefully, their sacrifices will be remembered forever,” a statement posted today on Istana Negara’s official Facebook account read. 

They also prayed that their souls would be blessed and placed among the righteous and pious.

According to the statement, Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin also sent condolences to Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono.

Muhyiddin said Malaysia is always prepared to continue extending appropriate assistance to Indonesia in facing this critical moment.

“On behalf of the government and all Malaysians, I extend my condolences ... we are also saddened by this shocking and heart-breaking tragedy,” he said in a statement uploaded on his Facebook page.

“May Allah give strength and patience to the family members of the 53 crew members in facing this challenge.”
