ELEVEN new Covid-19 clusters were reported today with four of them involving education institutions, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said three of the four were government schools.
There were also three more new clusters which are community-based; two from workplaces; one, detention centre; and one, a religious event.
The three clusters in government schools are:
1. Pengkalan Batik, in Malacca, with 37 infections;
2. Jalan Anggerik 21, in Johor, with 13 cases; and
3. Anggerik Cempaka, in Kedah, with six cases.
The fourth education cluster involves an institution in Selangor, which has 50 infections.
As for the three community-based clusters, all of them are in Sarawak. They are:
1.Sungai Lemayong, with 69 cases, the most from any cluster today;
2. Taman Mesra Bako, with 50 cases; and
3. Duranda Emas, with 19 cases.
The two workplace clusters are Pintasan Kampung Jawa, involving a factory in Penang, with 30 cases, and Putra Tiga, involving staff at an administrative office in Putrajaya, which has eight infections.
The detention centre cluster is Pagar Sipit Dua in Kota Tinggi, Johor. It has 36 cases.
The religious cluster is Jalan Perai Jaya, in Penang, with 11 infections.
These 11 new clusters have contributed 329 cases to today’s total number of 2,340 fresh cases.
They also bring the total number of clusters in the country to 1,552. Of this, 343 are active, with 67 of them are still reporting fresh cases daily.
Clusters reporting the highest number of new cases today are Kok Lanas, with 78 cases, followed by Jalan Khidmat (72 cases) and the newly traced Sungai Lemayong (65 cases).
