MMA wants MySejahtera to include Covid-19 test results

The Malaysian Medical Association says the MySejahtera app should be made the official channel for the public to receive their Covid-19 RT-PCR and RTK Antigen test results certification. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 28, 2021.

THE MySejahtera application should also include an e-certificate for Covid-19 test results to reflect the user’s health and exposure status, said Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr Subramaniam Muniandy.

“Apart from registering for the anti-Covid-19 vaccines and generating e-certificates for vaccinated individuals, the MySejahtera app should also be made the official app for Covid-19 RT-PCR and RTK Antigen test results certification,” he said in a statement today.

“MMA believes this would be most practical as one of the app’s main features is to provide the user their most up-to-date Covid-19 exposure status,” he added.

Subramaniam said the government should centralise all Covid-19-related data and records under one system for the purpose of uniformity and consistency.

“Currently, the laboratories processing the RT-PCR test samples use the Public Health Laboratory Information System (SIMKA) system to report the test results to the Ministry of Health,” he said.

He said the tested individual would then receive the test result from the private healthcare facility.

Those who have taken the RTK Antigen tests are informed of their results within an hour by the private healthcare facility.

“It will be good if MySejahtera can generate the Covid-19 RT-PCR and RTK Antigen certificates as well,” he said.

He added that this could also prevent the proliferation of fake test results and any attempts of middlemen trying to capitalise on the pandemic.

He said as Malaysia was now in talks with other countries including Singapore on opening up its borders, the government should consider including the e-certification for Covid-19 tests in the MySejahtera app.

In addition to that, authorities should also ensure that the certification is recognised by all foreign embassies, he added. – March 28, 2021.
