INSPECTOR-GENERAL of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has said there is no need for him to lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over a corrupt group of officers in the police force.

The country’s top cop reiterated that the matter is still under control.

“I have explained before that the issue is under control and I have discussed with the Department of Integrity and Standards Compliance (JIPS) on the matter.

“There is no need to get there (to report to the MACC) because action will be taken,” he said at a press conference in Bukit Aman, today.

Hamid said he greatly appreciates the reaction from the public on the issue.

“This shows how important the issue of corruption and misconduct is among police officers.

“This is the culture that I want to emphasise and this is the time. I am not ashamed to admit that it happened because if I am ashamed, it will never change,” he said.

Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin had earlier asked Hamid to report to the Police Force Commission (SPP) on his allegations about mutinous cops seeking to overthrow him.

On March 17, Hamid through a live interview with Sinar Harian admitted that there is a movement among young police officers who are trying to bring him down by tarnishing his image. – March 25, 2021.
