Stop treating women as sexual objects

AS a woman, I find it greatly disturbing reading the newspapers the last few days as it has been riddled with nothing but how men in power abuse their positions and take advantage of the weaker sex.

Starting with the incidents involving policemen to now, politicians.

It is really sad that such things are happening right here in Malaysia – a Muslim country which is totally against such abuse.

The latest incident which was highlighted yesterday involves another politician, this time allegedly from Amanah, accused of molesting a woman.

This man is the son of a very religious, prominent politician also and since the episode, pictures of his family and his own wife had gone viral on social media.

Don’t these men think of the consequences such actions can trigger? What about the shame it brings to the family, especially the wife.

Why do men have to resort to such demeaning things when they have a wonderful wife and family of their own.

Because they are powerful, does that mean they can get away with anything? Do innocent, unsuspecting women look like sexual objects to them which they can manipulate at their whims and fancies?

If this were a foreign country, I am sure that by now, these politicians involved would have stepped down.

However, we will never see such things happening in Malaysia and these politicians will probably just continue to remain in power.

To a woman, such acts are disgusting and I appeal to our Justice system not to take these things lightly and punish those responsible.

Women are not cheap, sex objects – we are your mothers, sisters and daughters - would you like another man to molest them? – March 24, 2021.
