INSTITUT Darul Ehsan (IDE) is conducting a survey on public sentiment as the Perikatan Nasional government prepares to mark a year in office on March 1.

The survey in English and Bahasa Melayu started yesterday and ends Thursday. To take part, go to www.ideselangor.com.

On March 1 last year, Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in the country’s eighth prime minister, replacing Dr Mahathir Mohamad who resigned after his party Bersatu withdrew from Pakatan Harapan.

Bersatu, led by Muhyiddin, has since allied with PAS, Umno and several parties form Sarawak.

Muhyiddin’s position now hangs by a thread after he lost the support of several Umno MPs and consequently, the majority in parliament.

The Pagoh MP, however, has managed to convince the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to declare a state of emergency and suspend parliament.

Several opposition lawmakers have challenged the proclamation in court, claiming it is illegitimate as the prime minister did not have the backing of the MPs at the time he advised the king on the need for emergency rule. – February 20, 2021.
