PRIME Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today demanded that Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi apologise and pay him RM10 million for allegedly defaming him in a Facebook post last week, Malay Mail Online reports.

The portal said Muhyiddin sent a legal letter through the firm Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership by hand and email demanding that the Umno leader remove the February 9 post titled “Kuarantin Pun Ada Dua Darjat” (Double standards even in quarantine).

Muhyiddin also demanded that Puad publish a public apology on his Facebook page, and for all news portals and social media accounts that published the statement to also apologise and state in writing that they would stop publishing similar allegations.

The lawyers said the prime minister would seek a court order for the apology and compensation if Puad failed to comply within seven days from the date of the letter, which is February 16.

The lawyers also said Puad’s statement was criminal defamation. – February 16, 2021.
