THE government has extended the movement-control order (MCO) in seven states until February 4, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

The affected states are Penang, Selangor, Johor, Sabah, Malacca, Kelantan and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

The MCO in these states were to end on January 26.

On January 11, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced the second round of MCO from January 13 until January 26 following a continuous hike in Covid-19 cases.

The nation has been seeing daily cases hitting four digits since November.

The MCO 2.0, which followed the first MCO that was in place from March to June last year, however was less restrictive in terms of economic shut down, with six essential industries and services being allowed to operate under strict health protocols and standard operating procedure. – January 21, 2021.
