MINISTER in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamad has been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for Covid-19.

The Jeli MP posted about his discharge at 4.30pm today on Facebook.

He had spent 12 days in hospitals, including three days in the intensive care unit.

“Of the 12 days in hospital, the most worrying was the three days in ICU, with some respiratory problems and a lack of energy,” he said.

He added he was “gradually recovering” and had to rest more, work less and could not meet too many people.

Mustapa tested positive on January 9 and made a public announcement to that end the following day.

He was admitted to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Baru.

Besides Mustapa, other cabinet members and politicians who tested positive since the year began are Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II Jeffrey Kitingan; Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin; Women, Family and Community Minister Rina Mohd Harun; National Unity Minister Halimah Mohamed Sadique and Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who is also Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman, is also Covid-19 positive, as is Padang Rengas MP Nazri Aziz.

Other politicians who have contracted Covid-19 recently include Hua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also took a test, announced earlier today on Facebook that his result was negative. – January 21, 2021.
