UMNO has postponed its general assembly, which was to be held on January 30 to 31, due to the movement-control order and emergency, said Ahmad Maslan.

The Umno secretary-general said the party will announce new dates later.

“The party president has agreed that party polls will continue at all levels as scheduled for the 2021 sessions this year,” he said.

Ahmad Maslan advised party members to close ranks and focus on helping the public during this critical time.

The MCO, which came into force on January 13, is set to end on January 26, and the Umno decision appears to have been made on the possibility it will be extended.

Seven states are currently under MCO. They are Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Malacca, Johor and Sabah and the latest, Kelantan.

The conditional MCO is being enforced in Pahang, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Sarawak, while Perlis, which has the fewest active Covid-19 cases currently, will remain in the recovery MCO phase. – January 18, 2021.
