Malaysian Bar fears for democracy, rule of law under emergency

THE Malaysian Bar hopes the state of emergency will not jeopardise democracy and the rule of law with no mechanisms left to check the government. 

“We hope any law intended by the executive for the purpose of strengthening enforcement to curb the spread of Covid-19, will not be unduly harsh,” said its president Salim Bashir in a statement today.
