THE Education Ministry will hold a meeting with the family of an 11-year-old pupil who was in April slapped by a teacher in SK Taman Semarak in Nilai

Education Deputy Minister Chong Sin Woon said the aim of the meeting was to settle the misunderstanding between the family and the teacher.

“We need to find a way to resolve this issue. Taking it to court will only impact the teaching profession,” he told the media after handing over school equipment to impoverished students in Nilai today.

Chong hopes the two parties could work together to ensure schools were a safe place for learning.

On Tuesday,  the Seremban Magistrate’s Court gave Azizan Manap, 44, a discharge not amounting to acquittal of a charge of injuring a student.
