Trio held over bullet threat against customs officer

SARAWAK police arrested three men over a criminal intimidation case against a Customs Department officer who received two live bullets at his residence yesterday, said state police Aidi Ismail.

The suspects, aged between 35 and 39, were picked up following a police report lodged by the officer after receiving an envelope with two bullets in it, with a note saying “Got two bullets, one long one short, which do you want?”.

“The motive is believed to be linked to a special operation carried out by the department’s enforcement division in a particular district early this month headed by this officer,” he said in a statement in Kuching today.

The suspects have been remanded for four days until December 1, he said, adding that two of them have past criminal records for drug-related offences.

“Two investigation papers have been opened under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to seven years.”

Aidi said police were also looking for another suspect known as Yong King Ling, whose last known address is at 72, Lorong 6, Taman Rejang Park, Sibu.
