MEMBERS of parliament have shown maturity by voting in favour of the supply bill for the budget today, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the MPs’ support for the spending plan showed they put the welfare and wellbeing of the people above anything else.

“Budget 2021 is the largest and most important spending bill for the country and this support will enable the government to implement all expenditure plans for next year in an orderly and smooth manner,” Muhyiddin said in a statement after the sitting.

He said passage of the supply bill at policy stage proved that the Perikatan Nasional government was responsive to the people’s need for aid while working to reinvigorate the economy which has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Muhyiddin said he was moved that the lawmakers had heeded the king’s call to stop politicking and ensure that the bill is passed as the country battled the epidemic. – November 26, 2020.
