Finas preparing plan to help cinemas, says Saifuddin

THE National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) is preparing a plan to help cinemas that have to suspend operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said Finas has begun working on an action plan upon hearing that cinemas may be closed due to lack of patrons.

“We will also review to assist them over the question of entertainment tax, which is under the jurisdiction of local authorities and we are prepared to negotiate with them,” he said.

Saifuddin told reporters after visiting victims of a storm in Indera Mahkota 2 today. 

Today, two cinema operators, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas (TGV) said they would suspend operations from November 2. – Bernama, October 30, 2020.
