THE motorcycle lane in Putrajaya is to be converted into a bikeway in line with a proposal to make the administrative capital bicycle-friendly.

Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said Putrajaya Corporation would undertake the project to convert the motorcycle lanes, which have been gazetted as bicycle lanes.

“We have an area that was previously built to be a separate lane for motorcycles but there are not many motorcyclists in Putrajaya, which is why we want to renovate the route to be used as a bikeway,” he said today in Putrajaya.

He said the bikeway would have an outer loop stretching 34 km, and an inner loop about 15km long.

Work is expected to be completed in the next one or two months,

He said various other facilities would also be built, including a cafe, workshop, a bicycle spare-parts and accessories shop, and a carpark. – Bernama, October 29, 2020.
