Johor police find syabu, ecstasy worth RM1.29 million

JOHOR police found 21.9kg of syabu and 14,000 ecstasy pills worth about RM1.29 million through two follow-up operations in Muar on Friday and Saturday.

Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the operations were held following interrogations of six suspects, aged 20 to 32, who were detained earlier in the same district last Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The revelations by the suspects took police to two drug storage locations – the Parit Besar Laut mangrove forest in Muar and coconut plantations around Muar.

“Police found 20.7kg of syabu and 14,000 ecstasy pills worth RM1.25 million in a bag on a beach area during a 10am raid on October 16, believed to have been left by the suspects before being detained.

“In the second raid in a coconut plantation on October 17 at 12.10pm, police found another 1.06kg of syabu worth RM42,560. In both follow-up raids, no arrest was made,” he told reporters today.

Ayob said police managed to seize 37.53kg syabu and 23,905 ecstasy pills worth RM2.2 million in the entire operation involving the syndicate since October 13.

He said police had also seized two fibreglass boats with engines worth RM35,000, a Perodua Viva car worth RM10,000 and a Yamaha Solaris motorcycle worth RM5,000.

“All the suspects are being remanded for further investigations until October 20 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Dugs Act 1952,” he said.

On October 16, Johor police revealed the detentions of six suspects, including a woman and her nephew, in three raids, as they were believed to be involved in a syndicate to smuggle drugs to Bengkalis, Sumatera, Indonesia.

During the raids, police also seized 15.67kg syabu and 9,905 ecstasy pills worth about RM1 million. – Bernama, October 19, 2020.
