Pulai won’t fall to opposition, says MP

NUR Jazlan Mohamed, the Pulai MP, today rubbished a Singapore think-tank ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute’s paper which claimed the opposition will likely win his seat at the 14th general election (GE14).

The institute’s study on GE14 was flawed and did not reflect the reality of every parliamentary seat, he said.

“The assumption is incomplete because it does not look at the real features of the area (Pulai).

“They (think-tank) say that Pulai is in urban area and thus could fall, but it is not that easy. In 2013 (GE13), it was believed that Pulai could fall but it did not despite the ‘Kit Siang tsunami’ (DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s foray into Johor).

“Kit Siang contested in the Gelang Patah seat in GE13 and won, but the ‘tsunami’ did not hold sway in Pulai,” he said after opening a football championship at his constituency today.

He was commenting on the study by the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute which showed that Barisan Nasional would maintain its dominance in Johor in GE14 but parliamentary seats like Pulai, Pasir Gudang and Tebrau are vulnerable. – Bernama, December 16, 2017.

  • Because of southern Johor's proximity to Singapore and the daily influx of Singapore visitors, you cannot ignore the influence of the Singapore cultures on the thinking of the locals here and more so of the effect of the clean and efficient administration of the Singapore government. People here have every reason to reject BN style of government.

  • Rakyat dont want you in Pulai anymorw. Better contest somewhere safer so that u can win and be a minister....if BN wins majority la.
