SABAH Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor announced a minor cabinet reshuffle barely hours after he was sworn in.

The reshuffle involves Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Bung Moktar Radin and Bersatu deputy chairman Masidi Manjun after it was rumoured that BN was unhappy with the portfolio given to its state chief.

Hajiji said Bung Moktar, who had initially been given the housing and local government minister post, will now handle the state’s Works Ministry.

In addition to handling the Housing and Local Government Ministry, Masidi will also be the state’s finance minister II.

“I want to explain that the works minister is Bung Moktar. Masidi is finance minister II as well as housing and local government minister,” he told reporters during a press conference.

Hajiji said the changes were not due to Umno’s pressure.

He said the switch had to be done as Masidi was given additional duties with the finance portfolio.

“No, there is no problem. Umno is here,” he said, stressing Umno was present at his press conference. – September 29, 2020.
