PARTI Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) will be contesting 15 seats in the Sabah election on September 26.

Star president Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said three more seats are still being discussed with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and they are expected to be settled on Tuesday or Wednesday before the nomination of candidates.

“Star has asked for 18 seats and we have obtained 15. Three more are being discussed as there are overlapping claims,” he said in Tambunan today.

Candidate nominations are on September 12, while early voting is on September 22.

However, Kitingan declined to reveal the full list of constituencies as well as candidates to be fielded by the party, also expected to be announced simultaneously with PN on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Even so, Kitingan who is also Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister confirmed he would defend his Tambunan constituency, which he won in the 14th general election.

Earlier, Kitingan announced Star would be contesting the Paginatan seat in the parliamentary constituency of Ranau, fielding incumbent Abidin Madingkir, who joined Star in August after leaving the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) at the end of July.

In the 14th general election, apart from Tambunan, STAR also won the Bingkor seat. These seats are in the Keningau parliamentary constituency.

Another seat captured by Star was Sook, after its incumbent Ellron Angin defected from Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah in 2018. – Bernama, September 6, 2020.
