BARISAN Nasional (BN) has yet to list potential candidates for the 15th general election, said its chairman, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid, who is also Umno president, said the coalition has not decided which seats it wants to contest.

He was commenting on Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan yesterday saying he will contest the Rembau parliament seat in GE15.

“No decision yet. Seats yet to be identified, much less the candidates. The matter (Mohamad’s announcement) should not even be raised yet,” Zahid said after launching BN’s machinery for the Slim state seat by-election at Dewan Feldajaya, Trolak, today.

Zahid said BN, Umno, PAS and Bersatu had formed a consultative committee to discuss seat allocations for the general election.

“When the time comes, when the matter has been settled at party level, then this committee will discuss seat allocations, which will then be finalised by the respective party presidents,” he said, while adding that so far, there have been no detailed discussions on this. – Bernama, August 9, 2020.

  • Question. Will leaders on trials be chosen as candidates since they've not yet proven guilty? If so, mightn't the voters shun away for obvious reasons. Plus it's going to be crowded candidates scrambling for seats with UMNO PAS Bersatu AA group n ++ fighting for safe seats claiming to be theirs
