Police get more time to interview murder suspect


A JUDGE has extended a seven-day remand order for a 41-year-old man believed to have strangled his wife to death with her headscarf in a car by another six days to facilitate police investigations.

Magistrate Ayuni Izzaty Sulaiman issued the order, from today until August 12 at Sepang Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect, a volunteer with a civil society group, had been remanded since July 31.

On July 30, a lecturer at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) was found dead in her car near a lake in PKNS Pinggiran Cyberjaya after she was believed to have been killed by her husband in Taman Mas, Putra Perdana, Puchong, on July 29.

According to reports, the suspect is said to have pretended to look for his wife, accompanied by their 14-year-old daughter using an e-hailing service, after the victim was unreachable and failed to return home.
