THE Lebanese Red Cross secretary-general said the death toll from yesterday’s twin explosions at Beirut port has risen to 100, with more than 4,000 people injured, reported the Anadolu Agency.

Lebanese broadcaster LBC reported George Kettaneh as saying today hospitals in the city are unable to cope with the soaring number of patients.

He said some of the injured are still trapped beneath debris.

President Michel Aoun has said ammonium nitrate stored near the port caused the blasts, which levelled a three-storey building and were heard across the capital.
