THE authorities did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comments in its documentary on migrants during the Covid-19 lockdown but went on to take action against the broadcaster after finding the documentary’s contents offensive, a journalists’ group said today.

The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Malaysia (FCCM) said Al Jazeera sought comment from the Malaysian government multiple times before airing its Locked up in Malaysia’s Lockdown documentary on July 3, which highlighted the treatment of undocumented migrant workers during the movement-control order (MCO).

  • Bottom line Aljazeera gave unfavourable report on the government without approval. If you have stepped on people's toes and hurt him surely he'll retaliate. Be ready to face the music.
