FIVE schools in the Kedah districts of Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap linked to the Sivagangga cluster have been closed until August 29.

The state government, in a statement yesterday, said the four schools in Kubang Pasu are SMK Hosba, SMK Megat Dewa, SK Hosba and SK Megat Dewa, and the fifth school in Padang Terap is SK Kubang Palas.

“All these schools will be closed for 28 days, for the 14-day quarantine and 14-day surveillance periods.”

The decision was made at a National Security Council meeting with Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor yesterday, and is in line with the implementation of the targeted enhanced movement-control order in the subdivisions of Ah, Hosba and Binjal in Kubang Pasu, and Kg Ulu Padang Sanai in Padang Terap.

“This involves controlling people’s movements over a 1km radius from the Covid-19-hit Restoran Nasi Kandar Salleh in Napoh,” said the statement.

“All teachers living in the affected areas are not allowed to report for work, while those staying outside these areas are not permitted to go to schools near the said areas.

“Teachers living and working outside these areas, but need to pass through them, can do so.” – Bernama, August 3, 2020.
