PRIME Minister Najib Razak should appeal to his “good friend” US President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, parliamentary opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said.

The PKR president condemned Trump’s decision, which was announced yesterday, saying the world was shocked and concerned over the instability it would cause.

“Prime Minister Najib Razak should immediately contact his good friend, President Trump, to put on record Malaysia’s condemnation of the US move,” Dr Wan Azizah said in a statement.

She said the US decision was “arrogant and provocative” and would threaten the stability of not only the Middle East but the entire Muslim world.

The Pakatan Harapan president also urged the Dewan Rakyat Speaker to hold a special Parliamentary sitting to debate the decision.

Foreign Minister Anifah Aman first used the term “good friend” to describe what Najib was to Trump, saying Trump considered Najib as a reliable and trusted partner, after the Asean-US Dialogue session at the 31st Asean Summit in Manila last month. – December 7, 2017.
