WILL the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government last, asked Umno youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki after the it narrowly won the vote to replace the Dewan Rakyat speaker.

Taking to Twitter, the former senator wondered if PN will be able to last when it barely won the vote, let alone a majority.

“The motion to change the speaker was passed with a narrow majority. Will the PN government last?” he tweeted.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin put in a motion to replace the speaker, which was supported by only 111 MPs compared to 109 MPs who objected.

One MP abstained and one was absent.

Asryaf yesterday said the motion was the first real hurdle for PN, and Muhyiddin should dissolve Parliament if he does not have the majority.

“If this fails, the PN government does not have the legitimacy or the majority to continue its administration.

“The government has no choice but to face the Agong and dissolve Parliament.”

The move to replace the speaker was met by severe criticism as former Federal Court judge Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof had done a good job by introducing reforms.

  • Bersatu cannot survive in GE15! Even in PH, they contested 52 seats but won on 12 seats. Will UMNO/PAS allowed Bersatu to contest 52 seats in GE15? How about Azmin and Gang with 11 seats??? Tough.
