SENIOR minister Mohamed Azmin Ali appeared to have changed his mind over when the elections would be held, after previously stating that polls could arrive as early as this year.
In news reports today, he said that it was still a long way to go before the general election, when asked if he and his ex-PKR colleagues were ready for a snap election.
“Still a long way to go before the polls (lambat lagi),” the Gombak MP said.
He had previously said that he and his new coalition partners in Pakatan Nasional were ready to face the polls, which could be held this year or next.
On the PN components’ tussle over seats, Azmin said today the problem could be solved via “negotiations”. He declined to elaborate.
As for the insults that he has been peppered with since his defection from PKR, Azmin said they have no effect on him.
“Label me what you want, I have been labelled all sorts of things. There is no effect. What is important is that our conscience is clear… It is up to them what they want to label,” he added.
The former economic affairs minister in the Pakatan Harapan administration said he made the decision to join the government headed by Muhyiddin Yassin to help the people and the economy.
Azmin said that like him, the prime minister was imperturbable.
“Don’t panic. Keep calm. Insya-Allah, we will be victorious.” – July 10, 2020.
