A BARISAN Nasional victory in Chini will deliver a clear message that Perikatan Nasional is a coalition capable of working together to realise people-centric agendas.

Prime Minister and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said PN parties’ ability to share the same stage during the polls campaign proves that the pact is strong and steadfast.

“The Chini by-election is the first for Bersatu and its PN partners. As Bersatu president and prime minister, I fully back BN’s choice of candidate, Mohd Sharim Md Zain,” he said in a statement today.

To ensure PN’s first election victory, he said, the Pekan Bersatu grassroots machinery has been fully mobilised to help in Sharim’s campaign.

“The campaign is further strengthened with the presence of senior Bersatu leaders from throughout the country.”

He urged Chini’s 20,990 registered voters to come out in full force and vote BN on Saturday.

“Your choice of rep will not only determine the development and future of Chini, but also open a new chapter for national politics.”

The Pahang state seat will see a three-cornered fight between Sharim and two independents, namely Tengku Zainul Hisham Tengku Hussin and Mohd Shukri Mohd Ramli.

The vote was called following the death of BN assemblyman Abu Bakar Harun, 60, last month. – Bernama, June 30, 2020.
