PKR no longer trusts Dr Mahathir, says youth leader

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s quest to be prime minister remains unfulfilled following the coup against Pakatan Harapan in March. – AFP pic, June 18, 2020.

MECHANISMS to ensure Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not stay as prime minister for more than six months are useless when there is no trust left, PKR youth said today.

Youth chief Akmal Nasir was responding to the DAP’s Anthony Loke who said there will be such mechanisms in place when urging PKR to decide and accept Dr Mahathir as Pakatan Harapan Plus’ prime minister candidate.

  • Its true but now PH is between a rock and a hard place. We could either forget the past and save Malaysia from the UMNO goons and prevent Najib and wife from coming back into power to destroy The country or we could go for the broke and take the risk w Mahathir again with the hope that he has really repent. Its a hard decision for PKR and its understandable. Its a gamble both ways..hopefully the decision they make is wise.

    • Damn if you do. Damn if you don't. And UMNO/PAS can trigger snap election regardless what PH does. Lack of support for Muhyiddin will trigger snap election. Government being handed back to PH is no guarantee

  • Akhmal Nasir is spot on. Mahathir had his chances to do real good but screwed up. He was up to no good the moment that he was made PM again. He could have done it differently but he opted to not to. The withdrawals of Rafizi and Nurul Izzah from PKR leadership ranks were tell tale signs of a damaged and broken coalition. Sheraton move was just the last straw

  • If you are the government, be a strong goverment. If you are the opposition, be a strong opposition. PH will always be part of the political ecosystem.

  • Akmal Nasir, your boss Anwar is the one causing problems in PH. Tun stuck to his principle that if one losses support, one has to resign. Tun is not "gila kuasa" unlike Anwar. Anthony made a good point about PKR holding the trump card of forcing GE15 if Tun does not step down as agreed but you went on talking about trust.

Well trust works both ways. Can we trust Anwar and PKR to priortise the rakyat's welfare rather than their own? At the rate you guys are squabbling over one another to position for plump appointments, I have my doubts. At least I can take comfort that Tun thinks of the country and people over his own health at 95 years old

  • Dr M screwed up the entire setup. He is not fit to steer the country the right path. He can be a senior minister but not PM for goodness sake. He destroyed PH public trust. He resigned without consulting PH presidential council. He approved Lynas License despite Minister disagreement. He disapprove PH manifesto.
