Sabah minister to be charged tomorrow over 2013 land deal

PETER Anthony will be charged in the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court tomorrow in relation to a Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority land deal in Tongod more than seven years ago.

The infrastructure development minister confirmed receiving a warrant from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be present in court at 8am tomorrow.

He is expected to be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

“I have no issues and I will be present in court tomorrow.

“I am prepared to face anything. This is an old case that has long been resolved,” he told reporters in Kota Kinabalu today.

Bernama reported Peter presented himself at the Sabah MACC office for a second day to give his statement on the matter.

Peter had earlier arrived at the office at 2.45pm and was released at 5.45pm after being issued the warrant.

Yesterday, he was at the MACC office for nearly seven hours. – June 10, 2020.
