KUALA Lumpur City Hall will allow open markets, morning markets, night markets and bazaars to reopen in stages beginning June 15 during the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the reopening of markets and bazaars will be subject to approval to operate for selected locations.

“Applications must be submitted to City Hall’s Licencing and Petty Traders Development Department from June 10 and must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by City Hall, the National Security Council and Health Ministry.

“They will be ordered to close immediately if they fail to comply with the regulations and SOP,” he said in a statement today.

He said during RMCO, under the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur petty traders licencing by-laws, City Hall may from time to time impose additional conditions on licences.

“Enforcement actions, including seizing equipment and closing open markets, morning markets, night markets or bazaars under the Local Government Act 1976, are possible,” he said. – Bernama, June 7, 2020.
