Groom among 3 fined over temple wedding last weekend

THREE men have been issued a RM1,000 compound each for flouting the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) by organising a wedding at a temple in Serdang, Seri Kembangan, on Sunday.

Among the trio is the groom.

Serdang district police chief Ismadi Borhan, in a statement, said police have completed their investigation and recorded statements from all the parties involved.

He said the investigation paper was referred to the Selangor public prosecutor’s office on Wednesday, and police received the order to issue compounds to the temple chairman, a priest and the groom at 2.30pm today.

A video showing the temple flooded with almost 100 wedding attendees has gone viral.

Under the CMCO to curb the spread of Covid-19, public gatherings, including at houses of worship, are not allowed. – Bernama, May 29, 2020.
