POLICE yesterday issued 433 compounds for breach of the conditional movement-control order to celebrate Aidilfitri, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defence minister said 434 vehicles attempting interstate travel were told to turn back.

“Police issued 433 compounds as people were still trying to visit friends and relatives after the first day of Raya.

“A total of 434 vehicles tried to cross state lines, and were asked to turn back,” he told a daily press conference on Covid-19 security-related matters in Putrajaya today.

The government had said Raya visits were allowed only on the first day of the celebrations, which was Sunday.

Kedah saw the highest number of vehicles attempting interstate travel – replacing Selangor at the top of the list – followed by Negri Sembilan and Malacca.

“Kedah recorded 87 cases, Negri Sembilan (83) amd Malacca (59),” said Ismail Sabri.

Despite the government loosening movement restrictions earlier this month, interstate travel is still barred. – May 29, 2020.
