No wedding held today at Seri Kembangan temple, cops say

POLICE today denied claims a wedding was held at a temple in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Serdang police chief Ismadi Borhan said preliminary questioning of the temple caretaker revealed no ceremonies or activities had taken place during the entire conditional movement-control order period.

“The caretaker also said the ceremony in the viral video did not take place today.

“Checks and investigations by the Seri Kembangan police station also found no such activity at the temple,” he said in a statement.

The statement referred to a minute-long video showing several people gathering and holding a wedding ceremony at the temple.

Ismadi said investigations are still ongoing, and police are constantly monitoring activities at houses of worship to curb the spread of Covid-19.

A portal today reported some 100 people attended a wedding ceremony believed to have been held at the temple. – Bernama, May 24, 2020.
