Dr Mahathir had to make quick decision, says Daim on resignation

IT IS not fair to blame Dr Mahathir Mohamad for making a mistake by stepping down as prime minister, said his close aide Daim Zainuddin.

In an interview with The Malaysian Reserve, he said Dr Mahathir had stated clearly in his Facebook video that he was left with little choice but to resign as the prime minister and Bersatu chairman.

  • The most foolish thing to do was to resign and give up all power. When one has no more power in his hands people will just cast him aside. TDM was old and too emotional and played right into the enemys hands.

  • Being outside the arena of the political turmoil it's easier said than done. It serves no purpose to point fingers at this time nor to cry over spilled milk. Look forward and readjust whatever planning that may overcome the earlier weaknesses.
