KELANTAN’S Sultan Muhammad V has consented to Friday prayers being held at mosques statewide starting tomorrow, with a congregation not exceeding 12 people.

State Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council president Tengku Temenggong Kelantan Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said the congregation should comprise the imam, “imam muda”, muezzin, “siak” and mosque committee members.

“The prayers should be conducted in compliance with standard operating procedures, such as temperature screening, wearing masks and using hand sanitiser, as well as recording attendance,” he said in a statement today.

He said a distance of 1m must be observed between members of the congregation, and the Friday sermon and prayers should be completed in 20 minutes.

Congregants must bring along their own prayer mats and perform their ablutions at home, he added.

Rizam said Aidilfitri prayers are to be conducted at home, and people are advised not to visit the graves of their loved ones during the celebration. – Bernama, May 21, 2020.
