YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today expressed support for the government’s decision to extend the movement-control order (MCO) to May 12.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the king also backs other measures taken by the authorities to combat Covid-19, such as imposing the enhanced MCO in certain areas.

“His Majesty took note of the measures conveyed during an audience he granted to Health Minister Dr Adham Baba today.”

Dr Adham and Sultan Abdullah spoke via videoconference at 11am.

The Agong supports “efforts to curb the spread of the disease among foreigners at the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market and the Selangor Mansion building in Masjid India”, said Fadil.

“The government’s move to ban entry to foreigners to prevent imported cases of Covid-19 is also highly appreciated.”

He said Sultan Abdullah praised the authorities’ quick response, which has led to the country recording a steady decline in infections.

“The high patient recovery percentage and the low mortality rate in Malaysia prove that the government has the best procedures in place to handle the pandemic.”

The king urged people to play their part to break the chain of infections and ensure everyone’s safety, including their own. – Bernama, April 24, 2020.
