UNIVERSITI Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) – including face shields and sanitisers – to the Kelantan Red Crescent Society.

Its vice-chancellor Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail said the PPE, part of the UMK Cares Covid-19 kits are specifically for the Health Ministry’s frontliners in Kelantan in the fight against the virus outbreak.

“UMK has taken the initiative to donate the sets to the frontliners to fight the spread of this outbreak,” he said in a statement in Bachok today.

The 100 sets of PPE, 3D face shield visors (157 units) and sanitisers (10 units) were handed over to Kelantan Deputy State Secretary (Development) Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Tengku Feissal as adviser of the Kelantan branch at the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage in the UMK Bachok Campus yesterday.

Azizi said this was part of UMK’s efforts to help all parties, including the various agencies in Kelantan.

“To date, 300 units of PPEs and 200 units of face shields have been handed over to the hospitals. We hope to produce more kits for the frontliners through donations from various parties soon,” he said.

He also thanked the society and the Kelantan Islamic Affairs and Malay Customs Council for their help in distributing funds and allocations for essential items.

“The society has also sent specialist doctors to help the volunteers with the PPE sets, based on the criteria and specifications set by the ministry.

“This collaboration shows we have to work together to help our frontliners fighting the virus threat, especially the healthcare workers,” he added. – Bernama, March 31, 2020.
