MAWAR Medical Centre in Seremban is offering drive-through screening tests for Covid-19, said its chairman Lee Tian Hock today.

He said the service is part of the hospital’s efforts to ease the burden of general hospitals in the light of the high demand from the public for the screenings.

To date, 15 people have made appointments to undergo the screenings which cost RM550 at the centre.

Lee said the centre, which is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to noon, except on public holidays, can test up to 30 people a day.

“However, for walk-ins, we charge RM650 as the cost involves personal protective equipment of the medical staff which are worn only once during the screening, compared to the drive-through where it can be used for five cases.

“We have also set the number of people who can undergo the screenings to 15 to 20 people a day for the drive-through service and the remainder for walk-ins as the laboratory which has been appointed by the Health Ministry cannot support many specimens,” he said in a statement today.

Lee, who is the president of Mawar’s haemodialysis centre, said the results of the screening will be known in three days. – Bernama, March 30, 2020.
