SINGAPORE’S Health Ministry, which earlier today announced the third Covid-19 death in the republic, has confirmed 42 new infections.

The fresh cases bring the national tally to 844.

Of the 42 infections, 24 are imported cases. These patients have a history of travel to Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asean countries and other parts of Asia.

Two of the imported cases are Malaysians – a 69-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, both of whom had travelled to the UK.

They have been warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

Of the other 18 domestic infections, eight are linked to previous cases.

The ministry said a new cluster has been identified, with three patients linked to The Wedding Brocade in Yishun Industrial Street.

As of noon today, another 14 patients were discharged from hospitals and community isolation facilities, bringing the total of those who have recovered to 212.

Nineteen of the 423 patients still hospitalised are in the intensive care unit. – Bernama, March 29, 2020.
