Elderly woman found dead, believed killed by domestic helpers

A 73-year-old woman was found dead in her house in Kulai yesterday, believed to have been murdered by an Indonesian couple who had been her domestic helpers for just 10 days, police said today.

Johor Police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said a white Toyota Alphard vehicle and some jewellery belonging to the woman were missing, apparently stolen by the stay-in couple, both aged 21, who have since fled.

The woman’s son and a neighbour realised something amiss after they failed to contact her by telephone, he told a press conference in Johor Baru.

“Policemen who came to investigate found the woman already dead with head injuries. We know the identities of the couple,” he said.

Ayob Khan said the police treating the case as murder and appeal to anyone who has information to contact Kulai CID chief Nazrol Bongsudi on 013-895-8288 or investigating officer Wee Hock Lian on 019-795-8008. – Bernama, March 19, 2020.
