Julau MP self-quarantines after exposure to virus-positive lawmaker


Amid the Covid-19 outbreak, Julau lawmaker Larry Sng calls on the public to go to hospital if they feel unwell. – March 15, 2020.

JULAU MP Larry Sng has gone into self-quarantine after attending a meeting with Sarikei lawmaker Wong Ling Biu, who tested positive for Covid-19.

“Just got news that the MP for Sarikei has tested positive for Covid-19. Even though I feel fine and didn’t shake his hand or speak to him, as a precaution, I will not be organising any events for the next two weeks,” he said in a Facebook post this morning.

“Everyone stay safe and go to the hospital if you feel unwell.”

Wong has been admitted to Sibu Hospital.

His DAP colleagues, Kasthuri Patto and Alice Lau, sent their well-wishes.

“Praying for a miracle for you, comrade,” said Kasthuri in a post on the MP’s Facebook page.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Speedy recovery, Wong Ling Biu Andrew.”

The Health Ministry yesterday confirmed 41 new coronavirus cases, the biggest single-day figure so far.

Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new infections, 37 were from among patients under investigation. The remainder are close-contact cases.

“With these 41 new cases, the number of Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 238.”

He said the fresh cases are all linked to a tabligh gathering at Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur on February 28. – March 15, 2020.
