KHALID Samad, who escaped unhurt after being attacked in Kuala Terengganu last night, told his detractors to stay out of politics if they cannot accept criticism.

The Amanah communications director told The Malaysian Insight that his attackers, said to be PAS youth members, are blind followers of their leaders.

“If they can’t accept criticism and they can’t accept their leaders being criticised, then stay out of politics,” said Khalid who is also Shah Alam MP.

“They can criticise others but when others criticise them, they get mad. This is the culture that has been developing for a long time.

“This is not loyalty but blind followers, and it is a dangerous precedent.”

It was reported earlier today that the former federal territories minister was attacked by some 20 men in front of Amanah Terengganu headquarters after an event last night.

Khalid, however, escaped unhurt and drove to the nearest police station where he lodged a report.

He said the attackers were not happy with his criticism of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Khalid admitted that he had branded Hadi “mentally unstable” for saying that Muhyiddin Yassin’s new government came through the “rooftop”.

“They were mad at me for saying Hadi was no longer sane. Hadi had earlier made a ridiculous statement saying that it was okay to enter the new government even through the roof.

“How can Hadi be so proud of such an act. So because of my harsh criticism of Hadi, they got angry.

“Some sent me text messages with abusive remarks, and when they knew I was coming to Terengganu, they wanted to teach me a lesson,” Khalid said.

PAS is now part of Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional government, along with Bersatu and Umno. Several PAS leaders were appointed ministers and deputy ministers in the new cabinet.

PAS initially supported Dr Mahathir Mohamad to serve as the prime minister but later backed Muhyiddin. – March 14, 2020.

  • Like falling back to year 1960s gangsterism. Maybe their mentality is about the level of those gangsters in 1960s. Can't improve after 60 years.
