PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has expressed regret over the commotion and the attack on several leaders at the party’s headquarters today.

PKR members this afternoon hurled abuses and attacked vice-president Chua Tian Chang, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Seberang Jaya rep Afif Bahardin for their support of former deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Anwar said although the leaders have different opinions, the attacks were uncalled for.

“It is regrettable. It is like we lost our conscience to think by attacking the leaders. Those leaders, although they have different opinions, cannot act in such a way,” said Anwar at an event at his home in Segambut.

He added he will not compromise with those who resorted to violence and urged the authorities to investigate.

“I have no choice but to let the police investigate and our disciplinary board will also look into it,” he said.

“If you are truly a party member, you must have principle and discipline,” he added.

Chua, popularly known as Tian Chua, was slapped and had bottles thrown at him as he tried to enter his vehicle after a meeting at the party headquarters ended.

Police have arrested a man, believed to be a PKR member, following the incident.
