TWO more Covid-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals, while there are no new cases of the virus reported today, said Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said Malaysia has now reported a total of 17 recovered cases.

The two latest recovered patients are both Chinese nationals, a 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.

Both were confirmed with Covid-19 on February 14.

Dzulkefly said the total confirmed Covid-19 cases in Malaysia remains at 22, with five still in hospital.

“The five cases as mentioned are still admitted and in stable condition,” he said, adding that three of them were at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and one each at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Kedah and Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Dzulkefly also said the Malaysian Embassy in Tokyo had updated his ministry on the current status of the four Malaysians on the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The three passengers and one crewmember were among hundreds of others quarantined on the ship at one of the seaports in Japan since February 4 following the confirmation of Covid-19 infections among the passengers.

Two of the Malaysians – a husband (71-years-old) and wife (66-years-old) – have been confirmed positive with Covid-19 on February 16 2020, and are currently receiving treatment at Fujita Hospital in Nagoya. They are in stable condition.

“The other Malaysian passenger, a 61-year-old female, was found to be negative for Covid-19 infection and has been allowed to travel back to Malaysia by Japanese health authorities upon completion of the 14-day quarantine,” said Dzulkefly.
